As a result of our High School Reunion interest (see Columbian article here), I am posting information how to donate to our cause. We are an all volunteer group at Nica Impact and you can be assured that nearly all of your donation makes it to causes in Nicaragua (a small amount is used for general overhead. Less than 5%). We generate our personal income through other sources.
Thanks to all who contribute in any way possible.

Update on Franklin. He just returned from Guatemala after a month while participating in a student exchange program. Franklin is finishing up his Technical Degree in Agriculture, which was his original plan coming into the program. He plans to stay with us two more years while he completes his engineering degree. He and one other student travel about a two hour bus ride to attend classes at the agricultural school in Rivas.
Franklin will begin a program where he will work as an assistant to a local farmer and with the help of the University he will be applying what he has learned so far while also programmed requirements from his school. He is also a leader in the church and makes himself available when he has time. He is 22 years old.

At 19 years of age, Erling came to us a few months ago with hopes of studying medicine. His goal is to be a Doctor of Surgery. He still needs to take the entrance exam and pass with very high scores if he is to continue in our program. Presently he is volunteering a lot of time at the old folks home during the morning hours and studying for the exam in the afternoons. Erling is also very involved in the youth movement at church. He is a solid kid who comes from a very poor home south of Rivas about 2 and a half hours away.
