A Portuguese entrepreneur launched a swimwear brand dedicated to women subjected to mastectomies.
The first national brand of swimwear dedicated to mastectomised women was launched this 2014 by a woman that has herself experienced many cases in her own family. The brand wishes to add comfort to a better elegance.
Rita Alves is the one responsible for the creation of the first national brand of swimwear for women who had breast cancer and for that had to remove their breasts. After living with many cases in her own family Rita understood that the swimwear marketed in Portugal were not adapted to women subjected to mastectomies.
The idea emerged from the fact that in my family we had 5 cases of breast cancer and it was difficult to find swimwear with such specificity, and from that occurred the idea of creating Sweemie. Sweemie is 100% Portuguese and what we wish is to add design to national production and produce a brand that is more appealing.
Two years were necessary to find a solution that could add comfort to aesthetics.
As you all can see there are here inside pouches for inserting the prosthesis and here theres a cut all around for sustaining the breast.
In May this year Rita managed to launch her online shop with models and prices starting from 80 [~100 US Dollars, ~£65].
